the "Precision." Manufacturing is delayed when
Mr. Hogan throws away the first production run
at a cost of $100,000 dollars because the clubs
failed to meet his exacting standards.

U.S. Open titles, Hogan is defeated in a playoff
by unknown club professional Jack Fleck at

components of a golf club is the shaft. Teaming with
veteran club designer Gene Sheely, the company
introduces the first constant weight taper-tip steel shaft
called the "Apex." Softer in the long irons, firmer in the
short irons, it is hailed as the most consistent shaft in golf.
